It’s like smoking, you get a taste and you just want more. I’m not talking about crack or crank, I’m talking about drums!. I’ve been a drummer since I was 11 or 12 years old…wow 16 years, more than half of my life. I actually made my living as a musician for a brief period of time. I had a full time band until a few years ago. I’ve had brief bands, where we would get together for a couple of months, but it would just fall apart. I had a great opportunity with an up and coming artist, but I threw out my knee last year. I’ve been playing more hand drums instead.
I got my taste, by going to a music store on Saturday. Probably the first time in a year. I played on a nice Roland set and saw some nice Gretsch and DW kits. I’m trying to get my hands back in shape, so I got some sticks and then tested a couple of nice sets. When you’re my age, and look like a yuppie, they tend to let you play on whatever you want. You look like you can afford these overpriced kits. 🙂
I’d rather have my 30 year old, $250 drum set that I bought when I was 18.
