DreamWeaver & HomeSite

September 18, 2003

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m currently back to Windows 2000 until my iBook is completely fixed. I had to get some work complete, so I installed my old copy of Dreamweaver 4 and Homesite. This new site was completely designed in Homesite, as I ditched Dreamweaver half-way through the process. Nothing against BBEdit, but I’d absolutely *kill* to get HomeSite on OS X.

As I understand it, HomeSite has been integrated into Dreamweaver MX 2004 (DMX04), as HomeSite+. I’ll probably download a trial of DMX04 just to see if it’s worth the upgrade.

… Later

Ok, I downloaded DMX04 and it’s not bad. Definitely an improvement over MX. I wouldn’t recommend using on anything less than 1024×768, as everything takes up lots of room. I’d still only use it in code mode. It seems to run faster too. It does require Opera 6.0, and I can really tell it uses it for rendering. Not entirely happy about that. This trial doesn’t include HomeSite, but the Code Inspector (apple-10) has the same features.
