under glass

September 24, 2003

It’s been a busy 24 hours. I think I got about 4 hours sleep. I worked until 8, then practiced until 11, then drove 45 minutes, then collapsed.

I attended my first focus group and it was just such a cool experience. Watching behind two way glass, was like watching a psychology experiment. The hardest thing was not to “break the third wall “. The answers received, were at times, extremely eye-opening. What you thought worked, didn’t, and it would either be something completely wrong or kinda correct. Makes you step back and completely rethink your efforts.

After I left there, I went down to Georgia to practice with the band and learn a couple of songs. My hands hurt today, playing a hard traditional grip sometimes puts a bruise on that stretch of skin between your thumb and forefinger. Like I mentioned above, we let out around 11, then I drove about 45 minutes to my Aunt’s townhouse.

This is our last week of housesitting my Aunt’s place and sometimes we don’t realize it’s a 45-60 minute drive to Georgia to visit friends. We get up a little earlier, since there are dogs to take care of and then Niki has to get up really early to get to her part-time job in Ringgold. We’ve been housesitting for the past 3 weeks, with weekends off. It’s a nice quiet place and we get to eat someone else’s food. We’re just running ragged.
