Typical Blog Post # 281

August 13, 2004

Sorry for the delay in posting, I have things to talk about but other little things get me sidetracked. So here’s a little brief on everything:

  • Niki & I have another new nephew!
  • After looking at transcribing interviews, I’m now deciding to look at getting an iTalk instead of the micro-cassette I’ve been using. There is only a $10 difference between what I have and something that would just plug into my iPod and record a couple of hours digitally and can save as an MP3 without too many special steps.
  • Drumblog was hacked. Thanks to a couple of script kiddies using a known exploit in a PHP template from the procedure in the ALA article. It’s not a big deal, it took a while to clean up the eggdrop bot and the associated crap that goes along with it, but it’s clean none-the-less.
  • That exploit was something I was aware of, but was also not worried about it since those templates and that design is going away in the next few days. Plus, I’ve realized that 1and1’s tech support is shit….so I’m moving the whole Drumblog family to Bloghosts.
  • My side business, MKPW, is contracting out our graphic work to a wonderful graphic designer who would also like a full time job. So if anyone has anything from graphic design, logo creation, and anything else non-web, then drop me a line and I’ll put you in touch.
  • Work is still going well, although this week the “new wore off”. Between working my ass off, some friends of mine left the company. Still like the place and came to the realization that at the end of the day, I feel better than I did at other jobs.
