Blogs are more of the personal website, circa 2001. Slashdot and it’s ilk are more like a messageboard. Sure no one wants to be a messageboard when blogs are the new cool kid. Jeff Bates doesn’t seem to remember David Sigel and Jerry Pournelle and even J.C. Dvorak, had what would be considered blogs, way before Slashdot came to be a gleam in the eye of that Digital Alpha used to power the first version of /. Sure now they want to be a blog, while trashing them early on.
